no idea how to start my entry. but guess the best way is JUST start. (this line is pointless)

first, im heartened to see things working out recently. will list them out.

small group:
wonderful seeing everyone actively involved in pracs outside choir time. be it 630am, after sch hours, or timings which i dunno about. be it in choir store, anywhere in sch, anywhere. keep it up, every minute spent on revising your songs, the choir improves by this small bit. we need THAT many small bits for an overall improvement. so go on, small groups.

punctuality:
choir clock was a one-shot miracle solution to it huh? tho not perfect (yet), it will be soon. (need your help, jensen lol)

coming back from sectionals still nt too good, might be cuz of poor planning of timings too. so we'll look into this. we understand there's always been insufficient time for sectionals, but doesnt solve the prob if we eat into combined time to make up for it. more sectionals, less combine doesnt equal better. its about finding a balance to achieve max. results. better planning yes, but punctuality first in any case.

drilling:
taken 2 sessions of sop+alto. now we know how to go about doing it eh? the idea is this: while sound and music is debatable (given ms lim's moods), we spend our time working on the undebatables. dynamics, expressions (cresc. ritard etc), cutoffs, pitching (notes, intervals), chording, pronounciation etc. when ms lim comes, she will do her stuff, knowing other basic stuffs are already done. more to come, dont complain. just keep up.

SOPS
need: vocal training, confidence
listen up. while lay wang, agnes train you all like mad, everyone will make an effort to keep them healthy and happy. get it right, this training is bonus. it is YOUR responsibility to initiate and request for help and to consistently practice on your own. while sl's job is to help train members, your job is NOT to just wait for help. i hope the msg is clear.

ALTOS
need: uniform voice, keep moving forward
i wasnt kidding when i said altos wld be next up on ms lim's list. there are signs alr, dont let it go full blast, it wont be nice. this is not the time to insist on your characteristic voice (u think solo is it?), but rather give in so as to achieve ONE blended alto voice as a section. ignore this prob, and prepare to let ms lim fix it the hard way later on. move on, move on.

TENORS
need: discipline, humility, vocal training (in order of importance)
time to stop this nonsense about ill discipline during sectionals or practice. i know its not everyone. but as you're reading this, if you're thinking: its not me wad, THEN ITS YOU. i dont care whether SL or member, regardless of how well you already sing, let me set this straight from now on. whether or not you like the person taking u all is IRRELEVANT. u can dislike or hate the person in front, but u jolly well be serious when its time to sing. u can lean on the wall, put on a black face, or even yawn. but if ANY of these disrupts the practice in ANY way at all (which is VERY likely to), be it blur about what's been said, late entry, or committing grossly repeated mistakes, it is when what u do is UNACCEPTABLE. keeping up to this expectation is going to be the bare MINIMUM we will accept. im coming down on this hard, discipline yourself guys, before i do it.

BASSES
need: voice blending, consistency
blending of voices has always been a prob. no need people to point out that your voice is different tone, start listening yourself and blending to others YOURSELF. jiahao and linus been repeating and repeating. so what if we can get it once? show them that it can be done and reproduced many times over (without any reminding).

CHOIR
need: sustained momentum, conviction
physically tiring yes, but keep up with it. at the same time, maximise the duration and quality of resting/sleep times and drink plenty of water. no it doesnt contradict. it just means: when its time to sing, sing. when its time to sleep, sleep. we cannot afford to fall sick at this critical period, so PLEASE take good care of your body and voice. let's put it this way: resting is also part of your responsibility to the choir. stay focused and BELIEVE that we CAN if we want it.

never forget this is ultimately a team effort. it requires effort from EVERY SINGLE one of us, directed towards a common resolution. it requires trust, commitment and perseverance.

on our own, we cannot. but TOGETHER, we CAN.
